Meet Angela
I believe the world would be a better place if more people modeled their lives after Jesus and my mission is to challenge people to do that.
I have more than two decades of experience in Christian Education: youth, children’s, and adult ministries. I’ve also taught school, owned a small business, worked in finance, and tried my hand at stay-at-home parenting.
After achieving success and hitting my goals in building youth programs, Vacation Bible School and mission trip teams, and following a time of discernment about discipleship, I began to wonder if these efforts were effective in the mission of helping people be more like Jesus.
Was the work we were doing actually “making disciples for the transformation of the world” (the mission of the United Methodist Church)?
In the mid-2010s, I started writing daily reflections for adults and developing curriculum for age-level ministries that were driven by this mission.
Through this process, I discovered that the Bible can be a big obstacle for people in following Jesus and yet it is a necessary component because I also believe that becoming more like Jesus is not an act of will, but an act of grace.
My mission is to help people engage with the Bible as a means of grace.
I grew up in Southern California and hold a B.A. in Religion from Point Loma Nazarene University (then College). I have one grown and flown daughter and I currently live in Northern Virginia with my husband, Chris and two daughters. I read a lot and have too many podcasts in my queue. I enjoy sunshine, swimming, and exploring new places.
